    Hey Stephan,

This is regarding third party batteries, specifically the topic you commented in on May 26.
I finally got around to purchasing a pair of 3S (9.9v) LiFePO4 packs and tested them. I had the battery connected to a PF extension wire  via a Traxxas RC plug and the other end connected to the SBrick with no motors attached. The green indicator light on the SBrick wasn't illuminated and the wire began to get warm so I quickly disconnected everything to find one of the metal contacts on the PF end of the extension wire had charred slightly and broken off and the surrounding plastic on the corresponding tabs of the SBrick was discoloured.

You mentioned that you have had plenty of experience using 3S LiFePO4 packs with your SbBrick(s) and I was wondering if there is anything you can think of that I may have done wrong in terms of wiring configuration. Perhaps you might be able to post a photo of your setup with LiFePO4 batteries connected and I could compare?

In any case, assistance of any...    less

    Hey Tamás

Have the tests you mentioned been performed? I would like to know what your results were because the (3rd party) LiFePO4 battery pack I am considering the purchase of is 1000MaH a 15C (giving a maximum current output of 15Amps). It is my understanding that the current the SBrick is exposed to is due to "what the motors etc will draw" as opposed to "what the battery is capable of supplying". Am I correct and will this 15A capability cause damage to the SBrick if used?
Also, on the topic of current draw, Philo (link below) says that the 5292 RC motor draws "over 3 amps" when stalled. He also says that this figure is innacurate. Is the effect a stalled 5292 motor have on an SBrick catastrophic? Thanks for any clarity you can offer.
