I used a PS3 controller, Ubuntu 14.04, and Python to do the math. I haven't yet seen that the profile designer is capable of handling trigonometry or other complex control logic. I ended up using imaginary numbers a little bit, which I doubt is a priority for normal users.

That takes me back about 30 years. Ultimately the profile designer isn't what I'm aiming for. I want to use a Wii controller/Nunchuck/Wheel to connect by Bluetooth to a Raspberry Pi 2 on the robot which will then send commands to the S-Brick controlling the four PF motors for direction of travel and speed. The fixed position RPi camera will stream low latency video (?) to my smartphone housed in Google Cardboard VR headset. As I turn my head the smartphone gyro will sends its orientation back to the RPi to control rotation. Think of it like driving a car whilst ocassionally looking out of the side window or rear view mirror rather than simply straight ahead. This is purely a hobby poject for me but if you felt you could share some of what you have learned it would be greatly appreciated. I suppose I ought to put up a Wordpress page to document my progress or lack of it as its bound to be messy. Please let me know if you publish anything ?  less

Right now I am still fussing with how to keep Python from freaking out when gatttool fails once in a while. Have to add more code to track errors so I know whether it is really gatttool or the PS3 controller or both. I've used Python plenty, just not as much for error handling and driving other programs.
