Yup, having the same effect here, it seems to me as if using the sliders (or other controls) are sending each individual step from 0-255 regardless of the speed in which the user moves the slider. This seems to lead to buffering of all those commands and have them all executed in one iteration, whereas it should probably be time based.
I don't fully understand what the idea was to assign actions to the profile's elements. It seems that each profile may add profile controls to the available controls, and then you need to configure your sets sbrick ports and channels to match those.
I was testing my setup with a couple of profiles, as it seems natural to me that I can use different profiles for the same set. E.g. I may want...    less

There do seem to be some issues with the profiles though, and I found the use of profiles is not really intuitive: I tried assigning several profiles to a MOC (Android app does not seem to allow sets right now), but the assignment of ports to profile controls is done on the brick, not on the profile. This makes it hard to switch between profiles. Also, when I use sliders from the test I and II profiles, it seems as if moving the slider is sending out too many commands causing it to buffer the commands. If I move the liser up and down in a period of about 1 second, the connected motor takes a couple of seconds to first spin up to max speed and then decrease speed back to 0 again. I guess some tweaking on sensitivity is required. Anyway, that's all not related to this topic, main thing is that the app...    less

I'll add my personal findings to this list as well:

    Apple iPad...  more

(where the # can I check that in iOS, the app has no general settings control showing the version nr? afaik latest version as available on 5 January 2015.)App connects to the Sbrick, and can use the port tester to activate the 4 ports. "Identify led"  does not seem to work though, and have difficulties trying to control the ports with the profiles. But connecting was never an issue, so I guess this counts as category A?

I already understood indeed that it's not intended to stay on, but in combination with the current version of the app not connecting to the Sbrick, it wasn't immediately clear if it was a software or hardware issue. The new firmware sounds like an improvement on that part, as it provides more intuitive feedback to the user.

I agree that it's a good thing it is the software and not the hardware for exactly the reason you specify; the software can be updated.
However, as far as I recall there has not been much information shared about the software and its possible issues. The Kickstarter information suggested all was fine and good to go, the information on the hardware was extensive and decent feedback was given about the molds, tests, orders for the chips, et cetera. But for the software no limitations were suggested except for the fact that the beta mobile apps were released to the app stores in November. To quote from the Kickstarter emails: "The IOS app beta is already available in the App Store and is called SBrick; ;) The Android app beta will be out...    less

Also, as soon as the HW was delivered, everyone´s expectations were raised: "the HW looks great, why isn't the SW of the same quality?" It´s really frustrating to have the device in posession for a while now without being able to use it at all.
I would like to see a page where users could check and perhaps also update their experiences per device, in order to get a clear overview of what works and what doesn't.   less

Hoping to do some testing with building an Windows application myself, first tests with Nordic Semiconductor's nRF Master Controller were very promising. Only thing I'm a bit worried about is if there's a big chance to 'brick' my brick in case I'm making mistakes and send wrong commands to it? This will be interesting...
By the way, if anyone is already building something, feel free to share your work on github or alike ;-)

LED indeed gives a very short and hard to notice blink when attached to power, but never switches on constantly. Also, it was sticking out of the brick a bit, about 2 mm, but when I touched it, it slid into the casing, hoping it didn't break a wire or so.

I was testing my setup with a couple of profiles, as it seems natural to me that I can use different profiles for the same set. E.g. I may want to control it with a joystick now, but prefer a regular slider setup next time. However, the profiles are not aligned in their functions, which makes that impossible. For example: I'm using 2 profiles: Test 2 and Joystick with 2 motors connected to port A and B. When I use joystick, I need to set the brick to use "Acceleration" and "Steering" whereas profile Test 2 requires me to set them to use Slider 1 and Slider 2. Wouldn't it make more sense to configure this per profile instead of per brick? So, on the profile you would configure which brick it should use and next for that brick specify which port should be linked to each function of the profile.

I guess some tweaking on sensitivity is required. Anyway, that's all not related to this topic, main thing is that the app correctly connects to the sbrick! Hurray! So the status for Samsung Galaxy S3 can be raised from D to A for the 0.25 version of the app.

Thanks for the update! I already understood indeed that it's not intended to stay on, but in combination with the current version of the app not connecting to the Sbrick, it wasn't immediately clear if it was a software or hardware issue. The new firmware sounds like an improvement on that part, as it provides more intuitive feedback to the user.
